daughter

have you heard
from your
motherfather today
she asks
and we giggle
lovingly
a secret silliness
that she combines
them
to one word
until today
suddenly
i recognize
her wisdom

have you heard
from your
motherfather today?

yes
in every moment
in every space
i listen
as my feet
touch the earth
my eyes
capture
sunlight flickering
through the trees
as i am
absorbed
by ocean depths
and grasses green
as i lean
against rough bark
staring
at blue sky
painted
with whispers of white
as i am
embraced
by moon and stars
and velvet night
as i taste
rain on my skin
and feel
its sound as it falls
and inhale
rainbows so
colorful

have you heard
from your
motherfather today?

yes
in every moment
in every space
in laughter
mingling tears
birth and
death
celebration
rejoicing yet
even still
in challenges faced
sorrow
pain
learning and
unlearning
hands held
love shared
grace
dreams turned
to reality
within connections
of light
reflecting
every step
upon this journey

yes
i hear
every day
in every moment
and i know
i am loved
every day
in every moment
as daughter
